Early last month, University of Montana researcher Shannon Donahue completed a very thorough review of the “…Direct and Indirect Effects of Paving Flathead County Road 486, the North Fork Road.” It has generated a fair bit of interest, as well as a few minor corrections. We’ve posted the revised version for viewing or downloading here. There is also an executive summary available. (Both documents are in PDF format, which can be displayed using the free Adobe Reader.)

Fire Information Links Updated
The Fire Information Links page has been updated. It provides links to local fire news, maps, reports, status, imagery and weather.
About 70% of the links had to be changed. (Apparently, a large swathe of the U.S. government indulged in a web site rebuilding frenzy over the past year.) The information is basically the same, but has moved around quite a bit.
As in past years, the Daily Inter Lake continues to be the best general news source for local fire information.
The Fire Information Links page is always available in the “NFPA Site Links” area in the upper left corner of this page.
North Fork Landowners’ Association Web Site Debuts
The North Fork Landowners’ Association has a shiny, new web site with lots of good stuff in it. It covers NFLA activities, as well as topics of general interest to North Fork residents and visitors.
Visit the NFLA site at http://www.nflandowners.com/. You can also find a permanent link to them in our “Related Links” list.
DISASTER RECOVERY!
Sometime in mid-February our Movable Type database got damaged, preventing us from posting new material. Unfortunately, this occurred when your friendly site manager was overburdened by high-priority projects. After spending a great deal of time this weekend trying to straighten this out, I finally threw up my hands and reset the web log.
So, as you can see, we are (re)starting with a clean slate.
I did manage to preserve the old content. Material posted prior to February 2007 can be found here.
